Mount Pleasant man arrested on six charges in alleged child sex exploitation case

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — A Mount Pleasant man has been arrested on six charges connected to the alleged sexual exploitation of minors, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Thursday.

Carson Dean Barry, 23, was arrested Sept. 10 and charged with five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of criminal solicitation of a minor.

Investigators with the Mount Pleasant Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force made the arrest. The investigation was assisted by the Attorney General’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Summerville Police Department and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that led them to Barry.

Warrants acquired from the Attorney General’s office reveal that authorities confiscated a computer tower and two iPhones from Barry containing CSAM material and footage of a minor being sexually assaulted by an adult male.
