UNCW Baseball hires former ECU standout Turner Brown as assistant coach

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW Baseball has hired former East Carolina standout Turner Brown to the coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.

Brown joins the Seahawks after spending the past two seasons on the coaching staff at Jacksonville University.

Before joining Jacksonville, Brown was the head coach at Whiteville High School from 2022 through 2024. He led the Wolfpack to a 60-17 record, including a state championship appearance in 2022 and a regional final appearance in 2024.

Brown played college baseball at East Carolina from 2015-19 and helped the Pirates earn 161 wins, three NCAA Regional appearances and two Super Regional appearances.

He finished his ECU career among the program’s top 10 in several categories, including starts, assists, games played and at-bats.

Brown was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

During his two seasons at Jacksonville, the program posted a 60-51 record.

Brown will join Hood’s staff for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
