Holden Beach Police investigating multiple overnight vehicle break-ins

HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Police are asking residents and visitors to check their surveillance cameras as they investigate multiple vehicle break-ins reported across Holden Beach.

The Holden Beach Police Department says the break-ins happened during the overnight hours of Sept. 16 into Sept. 17.

Officers responded to several reports of vehicles being unlawfully entered in different areas of the town. Investigators are working to identify those responsible and determine whether additional break-ins occurred but have not yet been reported.

Police are asking residents and visitors to review footage from home security systems, doorbell cameras and other surveillance cameras for suspicious people or vehicles during the overnight hours.

Anyone who discovers that a vehicle, home, storage area or other property was unlawfully entered, or notices items missing, is asked to report it by calling 911.

Police are also reminding people to lock vehicles, homes and storage areas and avoid leaving valuables visible inside vehicles.

The Holden Beach Police Department says the Shallotte Police Department is assisting with the investigation.
