Plates for Paws fundraiser returns to Pender County in October
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Humane Society is bringing back its Plates for Paws fundraiser for a second year, with events planned across the county in October.
The fundraiser will run for three days, Oct. 6-8, with stops in Surf City, Burgaw and Hampstead.
The schedule includes:
- Tuesday, Oct. 6: 4-7 p.m. at Coral Cottage Boutique, 14061 N.C. 50 in Surf City
- Wednesday, Oct. 7: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at For Our Furry Friends Thrift Store, 100 U.S. 117 in Burgaw
- Thursday, Oct. 8: 4-7 p.m. at the Hampstead Women’s Club, 14435 U.S. 17 in Hampstead
Southern Roots Restaurant’s food truck will serve barbecue and spaghetti plates at all three locations. Meals cost $12 each or two for $20 and include two sides and a drink.
Organizers say seating will be available outside, and takeout will also be offered.
The humane society will also hold its annual raffle drawing at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Hampstead Women’s Club.
Raffle prizes include $1,000, $750, $500 and two $250 prizes. Winners do not have to be present for the drawing.
Tickets for the fundraiser and raffle are available through the Pender County Humane Society, its shelter in Burgaw, For Our Furry Friends Thrift Store and Coral Cottage Boutique.
Proceeds will support the Pender County Humane Society, a nonprofit animal shelter in Burgaw that provides shelter and medical care for homeless and unwanted animals while working to find them permanent homes.
