Burgaw hiring event to connect job seekers with local employers

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College and several regional organizations are bringing a hiring and networking event back to Burgaw later this month.

The second annual Career Connections Hiring & Networking Event is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 28, at the Burgaw Train Depot. CFCC is organizing the event with Pender County Schools CTE, the Burgaw Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Burgaw, the Cape Fear Council of Governments and NCWorks.

The event is designed to connect local employers with job seekers and prospective students interested in career and training opportunities. Business networking begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the public portion of the event from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free, and no advance registration is required.

Attendees will be able to meet with employers who are hiring and learn about CFCC training programs and spring enrollment opportunities. Programs represented will include mechatronics, HVAC, welding, automotive, construction, machining, heavy equipment operation, electrical apprenticeship, lineworker training, nurse aide and CDL truck driving.

Organizers say veterans are also encouraged to attend.

This is the second year for Career Connections. The event has moved to the Burgaw Train Depot after its inaugural event last year.
