ILM to conduct full-scale emergency exercise Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington International Airport is alerting the public about increased emergency response activity expected around the airport as crews conduct training this week.

ILM is conducting live fire training this week and will hold its required Triennial Full-Scale Emergency Exercise on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The airport will conduct Saturday’s exercise alongside local emergency response partners.

ILM says the training gives airport personnel and community partners an opportunity to practice emergency procedures and work together during a realistic scenario in preparation for an actual emergency.

People around the airport may notice increased emergency response activity during the exercise, but ILM emphasized that it is only a drill.

Airport operations will continue as normal.

However, ILM’s public observation area will be closed Saturday during the training.
