ECU student charged after alleged online threat of mass violence, police say

GREENVILLE, Pitt County (WCTI) — An East Carolina University student has been charged after allegedly making a threatening statement on social media, according to the ECU Police Department.

ECU Police said the department received a crime tip that led investigators to a female resident of Fleming Hall. Police said the student allegedly made the threatening statement online.

As a result of the investigation, the student was charged with communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property, according to ECU Police.
