Bladen County superintendent selected for statewide, regional leadership roles
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Bladen County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jason Atkinson has been selected for two leadership roles focused on public education across North Carolina and the region.
Atkinson has been selected to serve on the Executive Board of the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association and elected vice chairman of the Sandhills Regional Educational Consortium Superintendents’ Council and Board of Directors.
Bladen County Schools says the positions will give the district greater representation in regional and statewide conversations involving public education.
The North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association is a statewide professional organization representing public school superintendents. Its Executive Board provides strategic direction and governance for the association while supporting leadership development, collaboration and advocacy.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Executive Board of the North Carolina School Superintendents’ Association,” Atkinson said. “Public education is strengthened when educational leaders work together to share ideas, advocate for students, and support one another in addressing the challenges and opportunities facing our schools.”
Atkinson will also serve as vice chairman of the Sandhills Regional Educational Consortium’s Superintendents’ Council and Board of Directors.
The consortium brings together public school districts, higher education institutions and other educational partners throughout southeastern North Carolina. According to the district, the organization focuses on professional development, leadership growth, collaboration and initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes.
As vice chairman, Atkinson will work with other education leaders on regional priorities, professional learning and leadership development.

Bladen County Schools says the two positions will provide opportunities for the district to share its work with other school systems, learn from other districts and strengthen partnerships with education leaders across the state.
