West Bladen teacher named finalist for NC CTE Teacher of the Year

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — West Bladen High School Business Education teacher Elizabeth Roberson has been selected as a finalist for the 2027 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Career and Technical Education Teacher of the Year Award.

Roberson was recognized during Monday’s Bladen County Board of Education meeting by Dr. Brock Womble, executive director of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching.

The award recognizes Career and Technical Education educators for their work preparing students for college and career opportunities and supporting workforce development in their communities.

As a finalist, Roberson will participate in a week of professional development in October that will include interviews and portfolio reviews as part of the selection process.

All finalists will be recognized at an event Oct. 29 at the Concord Convention Center in Concord, where the 2027 North Carolina CTE Teacher of the Year will be announced.

Roberson teaches Business Education at West Bladen High School, where students develop skills related to careers, entrepreneurship, college and future workforce opportunities.
