Whiteville selected for new EV fast-charging station

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — PowerUp America plans to bring a new public electric vehicle fast-charging station to Whiteville using technology from Durham-based Kempower.

The Whiteville station is one of four sites awarded to PowerUp America through the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program.

Additional stations are planned for Chocowinity, Plymouth and Wadesboro.

Kempower will provide the fast-charging equipment for all four locations. The stations are expected to open between mid- and late 2027.
