Front Street Bridge in downtown Wilmington to close for six months

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Drivers who regularly use the Front Street Bridge in downtown Wilmington will need to find another route beginning Monday.

The City of Wilmington says the bridge, located between Hanover and Red Cross streets, will close for six months while construction crews’ complete repairs.

Crews will completely replace the bridge deck and repair the existing pedestals.

The city is reminding commuters and others traveling downtown to plan alternate routes during construction.
