Hoggard High School to continue operating remotely as mold treatment wraps up

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hoggard High School students will have another remote learning day Tuesday, September 29, as crews continue cleaning, remediation, testing and assessment work on campus.

The cleaning and testing is due to a mold infestation on school property. School officials say the additional remote learning day will allow them to prepare most of the campus to return to normal use Wednesday, September 30.

The school’s cafeteria has completed post-remediation testing and is expected to reopen.

The NJROTC building is also expected to reopen Wednesday, pending final post-remediation testing results.

Remediation work is still underway in the science building and two classrooms in the main building. Officials say post-remediation testing will take place after that work is completed.

The affected areas are expected to remain closed for approximately two weeks while the work is completed and testing is conducted.

School officials said all extracurricular activities can continue as planned, including athletic events.
