Hoggard High School students remote Tuesday as remediation work continues

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hoggard High School students are learning remotely Tuesday as New Hanover County Schools continues cleaning, remediation and testing work on campus.

The district says the additional remote learning day will allow crews to complete remaining work and prepare most of the campus to return to normal use Wednesday.

Post-remediation testing in the cafeteria is complete, and the district says it will reopen to students and staff Wednesday.

The NJROTC building is also expected to reopen Wednesday, pending final post-remediation testing results.

Remediation remains underway in the science building and two classrooms in the main building. Those areas will undergo post-remediation testing once the work is finished.

The district estimates the affected areas could reopen in approximately two weeks.

Students are expected to return to campus Wednesday while remediation continues in the remaining affected areas.

All extracurricular activities, including athletic events, can proceed as planned, according to the district.
