Brunswick County Intercultural Festival returns for 19th year in Leland

Leland, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Intercultural Festival will return to Leland next week, bringing performances, cultural displays, food and children’s activities to the community.

The 19th annual festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Center, located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. The event is free and open to the public.

Organized by the Brunswick County Intercultural Festival and Brunswick Arts Council, the event is designed to highlight the cultures represented across Brunswick County while also recognizing the county’s cultural history.

The festival will feature performing artists, children’s activities, cultural exhibits and food vendors. Performances are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with Aloha Ka’Nakan O Hula Halau.

The festival’s International Village will include displays highlighting countries and cultures from Africa, South America, Asia and Europe. The “Passport to Culture” activity will give children and other attendees an opportunity to learn about cultures from different countries.

Traditional and contemporary music, dance and visual arts will also be featured on the festival’s entertainment stage.

Artwork from local students will be displayed as part of the festival’s Poster Art Contest, which focuses on multiculturalism. Contest winners will be recognized on the festival’s main stage.
