Wawa Foundation accepting applications for $250,000 in breast cancer grants

(WWAY) — Nonprofit organizations that provide breast cancer-related services can apply for a share of $250,000 in grants being offered through the Wawa Foundation.
The foundation announced Thursday that applications are open for its 2026 Breast Cancer Awareness Fund.
Eligible nonprofits include organizations that help patients and families meet basic needs during active breast cancer treatment. Organizations working on breast cancer prevention, access to treatment or research can also apply.
Applications will be accepted through Oct. 31.
According to the foundation, grants generally range from $1,000 to $10,000, although larger awards may be available.
The foundation plans to review applications during the first two weeks of November. Organizations selected for funding are expected to be notified by phone or email, with grants distributed in late November.
The program is open to qualifying nonprofits within Wawa’s 14-state operating area, including North Carolina.
Organizations can apply through the Wawa Foundation’s website by selecting “Apply for Support,” followed by “Begin the Submission Process” and “Financial Support.” Applicants should identify their request as being for the Breast Cancer Awareness Fund.
Submitting an application does not guarantee funding.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Fund was established in 2021. The foundation says it has awarded a total of $1 million to more than 150 nonprofit organizations through the program since then.
