CFCC students to perform free fairy tales for Wilmington families

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College students will bring several classic fairy tales to the stage this month as part of a free performance for local families.
CFCC’s Children’s Theatre class will perform “Rapunzel” and “Hansel and Gretel” on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. in the Studio Theatre inside the Wilson Center.
The performance is expected to last about 30 minutes and is free and open to the public.
The fairy tale performances are a new addition to the Children’s Theatre class schedule, which also includes an annual December production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
“Every year, our goal is to reach out and bring live theater to young people in the Wilmington area,” Drama Instructor Jack Landry said. “This course gives our students hands-on learning by rehearsing and creating a production from the ground up, culminating in the joy of performing directly for young audiences.”
Later in October, the student cast will perform for fourth-grade students at the Wilmington School of the Arts. That performance will also include “Little Red Riding Hood.”
Landry has taught at CFCC for 21 years.
