Wilmington selected as national host for Nuclear Science Week 2026

Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington will serve as the national host for Nuclear Science Week later this month.

The Wilmington Area Local Section of the American Nuclear Society announced it has been selected to host the 2026 observance, scheduled for Oct. 19-23.

Nuclear Science Week is an international celebration focused on nuclear science and its applications. This year’s events will highlight Wilmington and the Cape Fear region while exploring the role nuclear science plays in areas including energy, medicine, research and technology.

The local American Nuclear Society section is organizing activities in conjunction with the week. Events are expected to bring together nuclear industry professionals, students, educators and community members.

Nuclear Science Week is held annually to provide educational opportunities and information about nuclear science and technology.
