Free food giveaway planned Tuesday for Duplin, Pender County residents

WALLACE, NC (WWAY) — A free community food giveaway is planned Tuesday in Wallace for residents of Duplin and Pender counties.
Mt. Calvary Center for Leadership Development will hold the distribution Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Wallace office, located at 414 N. Norwood St., across from Truist Bank.
Organizers say a variety of food, including chicken, will be distributed while supplies last.
The giveaway is currently intended for residents of Duplin and Pender counties.
Mt. Calvary Center for Leadership Development offers several programs throughout southeastern North Carolina, including community health programs and leadership training for youth and adults. The organization also partners with the judicial system on programs aimed at reducing recidivism and providing opportunities for adults and youth.
Organizers say additional food giveaway events in other areas could be held later this fall.
