Brunswick County Intercultural Festival returns to Leland for 19th year

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Cultures from around the world will be celebrated in Leland this weekend as the Brunswick County Intercultural Festival returns for its 19th year.

The free festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way.

Organized by the Brunswick County Intercultural Festival and Brunswick Arts Council, the event is designed to celebrate cultural diversity while also highlighting the history and heritage of Brunswick County.

Festival activities will include live performances, children’s activities, cultural displays and ethnic food vendors.

The entertainment stage will feature traditional and contemporary music, dance and other performances representing different cultures. Performances begin at 11 a.m. with Aloha Ka’Naka O Hula Halau.

The festival’s International Village will feature information and displays representing cultures and countries from Africa, South America, Asia and Europe, along with Brunswick County’s heritage.

Children can also take part in the festival’s “Passport to Culture” activity, which is designed to introduce them to cultures from different countries.

Artwork from local students will also be displayed as part of the festival’s Poster Art Contest. Students created works centered on multiculturalism, and contest winners will be recognized on the festival’s main stage.

Admission to the festival is free.
