Columbus County Sheriff’s Office arrest two people after reported break-in

WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) — Two people face felony charges after Columbus County sheriff’s deputies investigated a reported breaking and entering in Whiteville on Oct. 6.

Deputies were called to the 700 block of Whitehall Road after receiving a report that people were taking items from a home and putting them into a vehicle, according to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies searched the vehicle and reported finding plastic baggies containing a crystal-like substance, a short straw, multiple empty baggies and a scale. The sheriff’s office said deputies also found methamphetamine in the possession of 41-year-old Stephanie Renee Fowler of Tabor City.

Deputies said 36-year-old John Burvie Spivey of Whiteville was found with a glass pipe and torch lighters.

The sheriff’s office said deputies also observed damage to the home’s front door frame, including a missing piece of wood.

Fowler and Spivey were detained and taken to the Columbus County Law Enforcement Center.

Fowler was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiracy to commit breaking and entering/larceny, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute methamphetamine. She is being held without bond.

Spivey was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiracy to commit breaking and entering/larceny, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a $75,000 secured bond.
