Whiteville takes down South Brunswick to remain undefeated, 41-20

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The Whiteville Wolfpack improved to 6-0 Friday night with a 41-20 win over the South Brunswick Cougars in a Southeastern Conference matchup.

Whiteville took an early lead as senior tight end Jayden Todd scored the game’s first two touchdowns. Junior running back Ty’Lae Rose also found the end zone as the Wolfpack continued to build their lead.

South Brunswick junior quarterback Kaleb Markel started the game but was replaced late in the first quarter by freshman Kaelum Grainger, who played the remainder of the game.

Cougars running back Amerius Revels scored in the first half, but penalties hindered South Brunswick’s efforts to establish an offensive rhythm.

Sophomore wide receiver Trayvionne Williams added a long touchdown for Whiteville late in the second half, breaking through attempts by two South Brunswick defensive backs to stop the play.

Whiteville will face Fairmont next Friday in a matchup between the top two teams in the Southeastern Conference standings.

South Brunswick falls to 3-4 and will look to rebound next week against South Columbus.
