West Columbus celebrates senior night with 44-28 win over Hobbton

COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. (WWAY) — The West Columbus Vikings celebrated senior night with a 44-28 victory over the Hobbton Wildcats on Friday night. The evening began with senior night recognition, including a special moment honoring one of the Vikings’ cheerleaders.

Hobbton got off to a fast start, finding the end zone early before Javarus Johnson added another touchdown for the Wildcats.

West Columbus responded behind quarterback DJ Graham, who broke through the defense and made several defenders miss on his way to a rushing touchdown.

The Vikings’ defense also stepped up, forcing a fumble and recovering the ball to give their offense another opportunity.

Graham then connected with sophomore wide receiver Charlie McLeod along the sideline for a long touchdown pass, helping West Columbus build momentum.

In the fourth quarter, Ouziyah Reaves added another touchdown out of the backfield to help put the game out of reach.

The Vikings also showed off some creativity with a trick play on a two-point conversion. West Columbus executed a version of the “Philly Special,” with Graham switching roles and catching the ball for the successful conversion.

West Columbus capped off senior night with a 44-28 win over Hobbton.
