Equine expo featuring horse training demonstrations coming to Lake Waccamaw

LAKE WACCAMAW, N.C. (WWAY) — A local nonprofit animal sanctuary is bringing back its annual celebration of horses and the people who work with them for the third consecutive year.

I AM HERD Mustang Sanctuary will host its third annual Celebration of the Horse-Human Relationship Oct. 23-25 at 215 Bill Thompson Lane in Lake Waccamaw.

Presented by Triple Crown Nutrition, the three-day event will feature educational sessions led by more than 15 clinicians demonstrating horse-centered training techniques.

Topics will include liberty training, positive reinforcement, trick training, bridleless riding and play-based learning.

An all-expo pass costs $55, according to organizers.

The event will also feature an evening show Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 7:50 p.m. inside the sanctuary’s indoor arena. Gates will open at 5 p.m. for guests attending only the evening show.

The performance will feature horses and humans moving together to music. Admission is $15 for adults, while children can attend for free. The show will take place rain or shine.

Tickets and registration are available through the event’s online registration page.
