TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — A 24-year-old Tabor City man has been arrested in Columbus County on a fugitive charge related to allegations involving the sexual exploitation of a minor in South Carolina.

According to court documents, Harley Pearson Boyd was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 20, by the Tabor City Police Department.

A magistrate’s order identifies Greenville County, South Carolina, as the jurisdiction seeking Boyd in connection with charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, disseminating obscene material to a person under 18 and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Boyd was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center on Tuesday evening on a North Carolina extradition and fugitive charge.

Court records show Boyd was ordered held without bond.

According to the North Carolina magistrate’s order, authorities determined there was probable cause to believe Boyd had been charged with offenses in South Carolina and was a fugitive from justice.

Columbus County court records show Boyd waived extradition and waived his right to counsel during proceedings Wednesday, Oct. 21.

A court hearing is currently listed for Nov. 23 in Columbus County District Court.

The available court documents do not provide details about the alleged offenses in South Carolina or identify the minor involved.

It was not immediately clear when Boyd would be transferred to South Carolina authorities.
