NORTH CAROLINA (WWAY) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that North Carolina will receive $600,000 in funds through the Housing Preservation Grant for eight projects in rural regions of the state.

The grant funding helps rehabilitate very-low and low-income households.

Director of State Operations, Robert Hosford, said the investments will help 55 homes make critical repairs and improve living conditions.

Across the country, the USDA Rural Development office is obligating nearly $8 million through 106 grants across 32 states, aimed to repair an estimated 1,228 housing units across rural America, with grantees leveraging an additional $7,552,804 in partner funding.

USDA Rural Development administers this funding through the HPG program, which provides grants to qualified non-profit organizations who focused on aid for low-income homes and affordable housing opportunities.
