Kure Beach council to hear $35 daily parking rate in proposed 2027 parking fee changes

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A proposed parking fees and rate changes are set to be discussed before Kure Beach Commissioners at Monday’s council meeting.
According to the October 26 meeting agenda, commissioners will hear drafted recommendations for the 2027 Kure Beach parking rate schedule.
The document includes increasing the daily parking rat from $25 to $35, expanding the paid hours to run from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and adding 45 more days to the paid season to run from March 1 to October 31. It also simplifies the season permit price range, going for $50 from February 1 to February 14, before jumping to $250 for the remainder of the season.
The hourly parking rate of $6 is not changed in the draft.
The proposal also includes the elimination of Weekly parking rate payments, citing the move as a simplification and noting that only 133 transactions were made through 2026.
Off-season parking from November to February remains primarily unchanged in the document, but includes new guidelines for Non-Profit groups, who may request a 15% discount for special events at the discretion of the Town of Kure Beach.
The document further added its goals for the recommendations are to increase fees from non-residents to cover growing cost of tourism and town management, minimize parking cost impact for local residents, and attempt to be more consistent with CB.
The next town meeting will be held Monday, October 26, at 117 Settlers Lane starting at 6:00 p.m.
