Hoggard sets two school records in win over North Brunswick, 67-7

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Hoggard football delivered a dominant performance Friday night, defeating North Brunswick 67-7 on the road during the Scorpions’ Senior Night.
The Vikings got off to a fast start, with senior quarterback Matthew Boring connecting with tight end Nakula O’Connor for a touchdown.
North Brunswick answered with a big play of its own as two-sport athlete M.J. Smith took a screen pass down the sideline for a score.
The Scorpions then made another big play on the ensuing kickoff, as defensive back Lyric Pryor returned the ball all the way for a touchdown. The score put Hoggard ahead 14-7.
Hoggard was in a groove on offense, with Boring finding senior wide receiver Desyn Durand for a leaping touchdown catch.
The Vikings continued to control the game on both sides of the ball. After allowing North Brunswick’s first-quarter touchdown, Hoggard’s defense limited the Scorpions’ scoring opportunities while making several impact plays.
Junior linebacker Graham McNeely stood out defensively, recovering a fumble and helping the Vikings maintain their momentum.
Hoggard continued to pull away, securing a 67-7 victory and setting two school records: most points scored in a game and largest margin of victory.
The Vikings will face the Ashley Screaming Eagles next week with a chance to clinch the Carolina Coast Conference title.
