After beating brain cancer, Pender County teen begins recovery from devastating crash

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County teenager who overcame brain cancer and was preparing to begin college is now facing another major challenge after a serious crash.

Aniya Moore had recently beaten brain cancer and was getting ready to start classes at Fayetteville State University this fall when she was seriously injured in a crash late last month.

Moore suffered multiple serious injuries and has undergone several surgeries. She is now focused on recovery and rehabilitation.

Despite the setback, her family says she remains determined to pursue her long-term goal of becoming a nurse.

Her mother, Bernadine Munn, said Moore was accepted into Fayetteville State University’s nursing program before the crash. While she may not be able to begin classes this fall as originally planned, the family hopes she can enroll during the winter session and take some courses online in the meantime.

“We’re going to try to take some online classes, so she won’t be so far behind,” Munn said.
