Allegiant pulling service between ILM and Orlando

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Allegiant Air announced as of January 25, it will no longer provide non-stop service to Orlando, Florida.

Allegiant says its primary reason is that decreasing loads and future advanced bookings are not meeting their financial performance projections.

Allegiant has flown out of ILM since April 2008. The airport says it is sorry to see the airline pull its service to Orlando/Sanford from ILM.

“Orlando is our number two top destination and has historically been a very successful market for us,” Airport Director Jon Rosborough said in a statement. “We will be working aggressively to market this non stop service to our existing carriers as well as other carriers in hope of finding a replacement. Of course our customers can still get to Orlando by booking with our current carriers, Delta and US Airways.”

Allegiant will contact customers to inform them of the decision and provide options to those who have made reservations for future flights out of ILM, to include a full refund.
