American Craft Walk celebrates 10 years in downtown Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than 125 artists and artisans will showcase their handcrafted creations during the 10th Annual American Craft Walk in downtown Wilmington next month.

The outdoor art festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The event will stretch along Front Street between Orange and Walnut streets and Princess Street between Front and Second streets.

Organizers say the festival is one of Wilmington’s largest gatherings of vetted regional artists, offering visitors the opportunity to shop directly from the creators behind the work.

Artwork on display will include watercolor paintings, pen-and-ink illustrations, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, handwoven textiles, cutting boards, wall hangings, purses, handcrafted guitars and other one-of-a-kind pieces.

Unlike traditional retail events, American Craft Walk features artists selling their own handmade work, giving attendees the chance to meet the makers, learn about their creative process and support local small businesses.

This year’s featured artist is Sherry Eden, a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts. Eden’s painting was selected for the festival’s official poster. Her work explores expressionism through impressionistic use of color, light and brushstrokes to create emotional connections with viewers.

The family-friendly event is free to attend and welcomes art enthusiasts, collectors and visitors of all ages.
