Anson football pulls away from Pender for 41-24 win

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) –The Pender Patriots fell to the Anson Bearcats 41-24 in a home matchup Friday night. Pender entered the game with a 2-2 record and got off to a fast start.

Quarterback Austin Deal handed the ball off to Jahiem Lambe, who found an opening and took it into the end zone for the game’s first touchdown.The Patriots went for two following the score, with Jamison Brown finding the end zone to give Pender an early 8-0 lead.

Anson responded with a touchdown to cut Pender’s advantage to 8-7 before the Bearcats struck again. D’Myriun Little found the end zone for Anson to put the Bearcats ahead. Anson converted the ensuing two-point attempt to take a 15-8 lead into halftime.

The Bearcats remained in control from there, eventually securing the 41-24 victory over the Patriots.
