Attorney General addresses ongoing Chemours litigation

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  During a town hall in Wilmington Tuesday aimed at preventing scams, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein addressed the ongoing lawsuit against Chemours.

The Attorney General’s office opened an investigation into Chemours’ production and disposal of GenX in June 2017.

Stein has said that one of his primary concerns is how GenX was described in marketing campaigns by Chemours.

Now over a year later, there does not seem to be much new information.

“Chemours agreed that they would discharge no more of GenX in the Cape Fear River. Now there are issues about the air emissions and that’s why we’re still in litigation,” said Stein.

Stein says the goal of the Attorney General’s office is to “make sure that when people turn on the tap in their home and drink that water, it is safe and it’s clean.”
