Born and raised in the small town of Knightdale, Allyson grew up watching WRAL, with the hopes to one day find herself alongside the talented newscasters there.
When she moved east to attend UNCW for Communication Studies, she soon found her love for news and writing could be merged into one, fabulous career, though it wasn't exactly what she'd had in mind all along. It wasn't until Allyson picked up an English double-major and Journalism minor that she stumbled upon an opening for a Production Assistant position at WWAY. She jumped at the chance to get her feet wet in any area of news. That's when Allyson found her love for behind-the-scenes news gathering and videography, which gave her the ability to be both creative and informative simultaneously.
She was promoted to Producer for Good Morning Carolina just a few months later, which quickly inspired her mild addiction to all things Starbucks, as she woke up at 2 a.m. each day to gather, write and help deliver stories that matter to the people who live in the coastal communities that make up the Cape Fear. In 2016 she was promoted again to nightside producer, where she leads WWAY NEWS at 7, 7:30 and 11.
In her free time, Allyson likes to read, write, sing and takes full advantage of living by the beach.
