Tanner Barth joined the WWAY team in September of 2018 as sports anchor. Tanner was born and raised in a small town in southeastern Colorado. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications & Journalism with a minor in Political Science. Before joining the team at WWAY, Tanner was a sports reporter at KKCO-TV in Grand Junction, CO. He has a passion for not only playing sports, but providing the best coverage he can to the Cape Fear. UNCW Men’s Basketball drops CAA opener against Towson

Towson jumped on the back of All-CAA First-Teamer Zane Martin and used its decided size advantage to hand UNCW a 72-69 setback in the Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball opener for the Seahawks early Monday at SECU Arena.

The Hoggard Vikings kept their title hopes alive on Thursday night taking down South Central in the second round of the state tournament. New Hanover battled back and forth with Chapel Hill, but the Wildcats fell short in four sets.

The Colonial Athletic Association has announced that the 2021 Hercules Tires CAA Men’s Basketball Championship will be conducted at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on the campus of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

Hoggard, New Hanover Volleyball advance to second round of state tournament

There were six local teams playing in the first round of the NCHSAA state volleyball tournament on Tuesday. Now, just two remain as Hoggard and New Hanover kept their state championship hopes alive.
