Tanner Barth joined the WWAY team in September of 2018 as sports anchor. Tanner was born and raised in a small town in southeastern Colorado. He graduated from Kansas State University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications & Journalism with a minor in Political Science. Before joining the team at WWAY, Tanner was a sports reporter at KKCO-TV in Grand Junction, CO. He has a passion for not only playing sports, but providing the best coverage he can to the Cape Fear. Four Cape Fear area football teams punch their ticket to the state playoffs

The high school football regular season is in the books as focus across the area shifts to the NCHSAA State Playoffs. Four Cape Fear area teams will have an opportunity to bring home the title in 2021.

Juniors Janel Gamache and Logan Bjorson combined to author a six-hit shutout as UNCW earned a 1-0 victory over East Carolina in non-conference softball action at Boseman Field on Wednesday evening.

38 year run comes to a close for Hoggard volleyball coach Ron Strickland

One of the most successful high school volleyball coaches the state of North Carolina has even seen is hanging up his whistle for good. It was announced on Friday that longtime Hoggard High School volleyball coach Ron Strickland will not be returning to the sidelines for the Vikings next season.
