Authorities seek suspect in armed robbery at Market Street convenience store

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery at a convenience store on Market Street last week.

According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery occurred around 7:41 p.m. on May 22 at the BuyQuick convenience store on Market Street.

Investigators said the suspect approached the counter, pulled a firearm from his shorts pocket using his left hand, and demanded money from the clerk.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and a pack of cigarettes, the suspect fled the store on foot. Authorities said he was last seen walking along a fence line toward the Three Oaks apartment complex on Market Street.

The suspect is described as a white male with a goatee wearing dark sunglasses, a green T-shirt — possibly a Nine Line brand shirt — black shorts with a green stripe, and a black hat featuring an “S” logo. Investigators said he was also carrying a black sweatshirt when he entered the store.

Authorities believe the suspect was on foot in the area near the U-Haul facility and the Three Oaks apartment complex following the robbery.
