Bald Head Island selected for 2017 Southern Living Idea House

BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WWAY) – Southern Living Magazine’s 2017 Idea House is coming to Brunswick County.

According to a news release, Cape Fear Station on Bald Head Island will be the location of the home.

“Southern Living loves Bald Head Island. As a founding member of the Southern Living Inspired Communities program, the island has been an incredible partner with us,” said Misty Chandler, Southern Living Marketing Manager. “As we looked at our partnership, we thought it would be great to expand it even further by bringing the Idea House to the island.”

The home, which is designed to provide creative ideas and inspiration for prospective and current homeowners, will open for public tours beginning in June 2017 and will be featured in the August issue of Southern Living.

The Idea House will remain open throughout the summer and on select weekends in the fall, with a portion of all house tour ticket sales benefiting the nonprofit Old Baldy Foundation. Old Baldy Lighthouse celebrates its 200th birthday in 2017.

No franchise is more eagerly anticipated by our audience than the Southern Living Idea House.”

Along with developer Bald Head Island Limited and builder Whitney Blair Custom Homes, the design partners chosen by Southern Living for the project include residential designer Eric Moser of Moser Design Group in Beaufort, S.C., and interior designer Lindsey Coral Harper, who is originally from Cartersville, Ga., and whose studio is based in New York City.

Located on a wooded homesite bordering The Common in Cape Fear Station, the Idea House is just a short walk from the island’s distinctive Southern Living Inspired Community, which offers homes for sale through Bald Head Island Limited Real Estate Sales.
