CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY)– One of North Carolina’s longest-running summer traditions returned to the coast today, as thousands of beach music fans headed to Carolina Beach for a day of live music, dancing, and sunshine at the annual Carolina Beach Music Festival.

The sounds of beach music filled the shoreline Saturday, as the Carolina Beach Music Festival celebrated its 40th year.

Hundreds spent the day singing and dancing as they listened to live performances from the beach.

Ashlyn Burke is a Wilmington resident, and says the festival is a must go for her every year.

“We love it. We come every year,” Burke said. “It’s just a great time and a great community. The beach music community is something everyone wants to be a part of, and it’s right here at Carolina Beach.”

The three bands featured were the Band of Oz, The Tams, and Jim Quick and Coastline
