BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC) is switching to its winter peak hours beginning Oct. 16, with on-peak hours scheduled daily from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The cooperative says electricity demand is typically highest during the morning hours as cooler weather approaches. Members may be able to manage their monthly electric bills by shifting energy use outside the on-peak window.

BEMC recommends setting thermostats a few degrees lower during peak hours, delaying the use of appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and dryers until after 9 a.m., and adjusting smart-device schedules to avoid the morning window.

The cooperative says shifting electricity use to off-peak hours may help members lower their bills.

Members with questions can contact BEMC at 800-842-5871.
