Bladen Community College to host class for aspiring entrepreneurs

ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Bladen Community College will host a class this month for people considering starting their own business.
The college’s Small Business Center will hold “So You Want to Start a Small Business” on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Building 14, Room 104.
The class is designed to help prospective entrepreneurs determine whether business ownership is right for them and learn about the planning and commitment involved in starting and operating a small business.
Participants will examine their goals, expectations and readiness for entrepreneurship while learning about decision-making, planning and other aspects of business ownership.
Attendees will also get an early look at the Pitch It Bladen 2027 Business Competition, including information about the program and its application process. People who are ready to participate may submit applications early for the opportunity to receive advance acceptance into the program.
Pitch It Bladen provides instruction on business planning, financial management, cash-flow projections, marketing and operations. Participants work toward developing a business plan and pitch and have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes.
“The Small Business Center wants to help individuals make informed decisions about entrepreneurship before they take the leap into business ownership,” Small Business Center Director Theresa Dennison said. “This class gives participants an opportunity to evaluate whether entrepreneurship is right for them while also introducing them to Pitch It Bladen 2027 and the resources available to help them succeed.”
Registration is available through the N.C. Small Business Center Network. People can also contact the Bladen Community College Small Business Center at 910-879-5572 for more information.
