Bladen County man charged after deputies report finding meth, firearms and illegal explosives

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An Elizabethtown man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say they found methamphetamine, firearms and illegal explosive items during a joint investigation in Bladen County.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, its Vice/Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation Friday, Oct. 2, in the 10,000 block of Twisted Hickory Road in Bladenboro.
The investigation involved the Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Probation and Parole, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Authorities say 46-year-old Matthew Louis Harris of Elizabethtown, who is on probation, was found in possession of methamphetamine, firearms and several illegal explosive items.
Harris is charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a dwelling for keeping or selling controlled substances, possession of a weapon of mass destruction and possession of a stolen firearm.
Harris is being held at the Bladen County Detention Center under a $55,000 secured bond.
The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are expected.
