BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick Community College has received a $1,000 donation from a law enforcement motorcycle club to provide scholarship assistance for students pursuing careers in law enforcement.

The donation from Blue Knights – North Carolina XVII will support students enrolled in the college’s Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program.

According to the college, the money will fund a community scholarship for students who are paying their own tuition and training expenses, helping offset the cost of completing the program.

Members of the Wilmington-based Blue Knights chapter recently visited Brunswick Community College, where they toured the Alan Holden Public Safety Training Center and presented the donation.

The Blue Knights are an international nonprofit motorcycle organization made up of active and retired law enforcement officers.

According to the college, the organization has approximately 650 chapters and more than 15,000 members across 31 countries.

The donation will provide financial assistance to students preparing for careers in public safety.
