Boil water advisory issued for part of Masonboro Loop Road area
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — About 200 Cape Fear Public Utility Authority customers are under an emergency boil water advisory following a water main break in the Masonboro Loop Road area.
The advisory took effect immediately Wednesday, Sept. 30, as crews work to repair the break and restore water service.
According to CFPUA, the advisory affects customers at the following locations:
- 4609 to 4417 Masonboro Loop Road
- All of Channel Haven
- All of Pelican Point
- 101 Seminole Trail
- 102 Mohican Trail
- 101 Cheyenne Trail
CFPUA said periods of low or no water pressure can increase the potential for bacteria to enter the water system.
Customers in the affected area should boil water for one minute and allow it to cool before using it for consumption. Bottled water or another water source can also be used.
The advisory applies to water used for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food or baby formula, washing fruits and vegetables and giving water to pets.
Customers do not need to boil water before showering or bathing.
CFPUA said its laboratory staff will test the water to make sure it is safe to drink before the advisory is lifted.
