Boiling Spring Lakes man charged with kidnapping, strangulation after domestic violence incident

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — A Boiling Spring Lakes man is being held without bond after police say a domestic violence investigation led to six charges, including kidnapping and assault by strangulation.

Boiling Spring Lakes Police say officers responded to a call for service on Cedar Road around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.

Following an investigation, officers arrested 28-year-old James Corbin Seale.

According to police and Brunswick County court records, Seale is charged with felony assault by strangulation, felony second-degree kidnapping, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon while a minor was present and misdemeanor communicating threats.

Court records show the charges were filed Sept. 20 and list the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department as the investigating agency.

Seale made his first court appearance Monday, Sept. 21. A public defender was appointed to represent him.

Court records show Seale remains in custody with bond not authorized following Monday’s hearing.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m. in Brunswick County District Court.

Police did not provide additional details about what allegedly happened during the incident or identify the alleged victim.
