Bolivia woman accused of food stamp fraud


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Bolivia woman is accused of committing food stamp fraud.

According to arrest warrants, Sheila Emmons Deans, 57, forged someone else’s name on their food stamp recertification form. She’s then accused of using the EBT card as her own to buy groceries from Walmart, Piggly Wiggly, and Food Lion.

She’s charged with the following:

  • Four counts of forgery of endorsement
  • Two counts of food stamp fraud
  • Seven counts of obtain property by false pretense

She’s accused of using the EBT card to purchase nearly $520 worth of groceries.

The crimes happened between June of 2013 and June of 2015.

She is out of jail on bond.
