Boubacar Aw named Hoggard head coach

WILMINGTON, NC (Hoggard news release) — The Hoggard Vikings are excited to announce the hiring of Boubacar Aw as the head women’s basketball coach at Hoggard High School. Coach Aw brings vast playing experience, an incredible life story, and tremendous passion to the Hoggard basketball position.

Coach Aw played for the legendary John Thompson at Georgetown University (1994-98), including serving as captain on the ’98 team, spent 12 years playing pro overseas in Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Italy, and Mexico, captained the Senegalese National Team that won the African Championship in 1997, and captained the Senegalese National team that competed in the World Championship in Greece, in 1998.

Coach Aw was born and raised in Thies, Senegal. He graduated from East Columbus High School. He attended Georgetown University where he got a B.A. in International Relations and a minor in French. He was named “Model Scholar Athlete” at Georgetown.

Coach Aw teaches in the Foreign Language Department at Hoggard High School. Coach Aw is a powerful role model for our student athletes and the Hoggard administrative team is happy to have Coach Aw on our campus where he can work directly with our student athletes.

Note: Aw replaces Ray Beatty. Aw served as an assistant coach last season at Cape Fear Academy.
