Boy Scouts help serve meals at Salvation Army

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Salvation Army, along with Boy Scout Troop 212, served folks a big Thanksgiving meal Thursday.

The event started early in the morning, with volunteers frying 39 turkeys to prepare for the day. They served that fried turkey with dressing and all the trimmings at their North 2nd Street location. Volunteers say events like these show the true meaning of Thanksgiving Day.

“We’re serving those less fortunate and it’s important because it’s important to give back to the community you live in.”

More than 100 people were served, and 60 to-go plates were made.
