Brett Springer elected to Statewide County Commissioners Board
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Commissioner Brent Springer has been elected to serve on the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Board of Directors for the 2026-27 term.
Springer will represent NCACC District 4, which includes Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties.
As district director, Springer will help guide the association’s priorities and represent southeastern North Carolina in discussions involving county governments across the state.
“I am honored to represent District 4 on the NCACC Board of Directors,” Springer said. “The counties in our region share many of the same opportunities and challenges. This position will allow us to work together, share ideas and bring a strong regional voice to conversations affecting all 100 counties.”
During the upcoming year, the board is expected to oversee the first year of NCACC’s new strategic plan, work on the association’s long-term financial position and consider legislative priorities for counties across North Carolina.
Board members will also support NCACC President Allen Thomas’ initiative, “Forward Focus: Charting the Future of County Social Services.” The initiative will focus on research, partnerships and advocacy related to county social services.
Pender County Board of Commissioners Chairman Randy Burton said Springer’s experience and willingness to collaborate will benefit the region.
“Vice Chairman Springer understands the value of counties working together to address shared priorities,” Burton said. “His willingness to listen, collaborate and advocate will give the southeastern region a strong voice as NCACC establishes priorities and addresses issues affecting counties across North Carolina.”
Springer is scheduled to be sworn in during the NCACC Board of Directors meeting Oct. 16-17 in Craven County. His term will run through the association’s 120th Annual Conference in August 2027.
Earlier this year, Springer was appointed to three National Association of Counties committees, giving him additional opportunities to participate in county policy discussions at the national level.
Springer is serving his first term on the Pender County Board of Commissioners and currently serves as vice chairman.
