Bride paralyzed in pool push set for NC wedding

PITTSBORO, NC (AP) — The young woman who was paralyzed last
year just a month before her wedding is scheduled to get married in
Pittsboro.

Rachelle Friedman and Chris Chapman of Knightdale are set to get
married Friday at Fearrington Village. She’s wearing the same dress
she chose for the first wedding, which was scheduled for June 2010.
And her father will push her wheelchair down the aisle.

Also present will be the bridesmaid who pushed Friedman into a
pool at a bridesmaids’ party in May 2010 in Virginia Beach, Va.,
causing her to be a quadriplegic. Friedman has never identified the
friend and says that person suffered even more than she did.

The bride and groom will have a honeymoon in Fiji, then Friedman
will head to California for therapy in September.
