Bridge dedication for former Brunswick County commissioner being held Friday

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Interstate 140 bridge over U.S. 74/76 in Brunswick County will now bear the name “William M. Sue Bridge.”

Sue served on the Brunswick County Board of Education for eight years and then 18 years on the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners, serving as its chairman for five of those years.

During his first term as county commissioner, Sue made a presentation to the N.C. Department of Transportation requesting I-140 be completed as soon as possible.
He was honored with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2011.

During the dedication on Friday, Division Engineer Chad Kimes will open and close the ceremony, and remarks will be given from several people, including Sen. Bill Rabon. The Sue family will be given an honorary sign, similar to the one posted at the bridge.
