Brigade Boys & Girls Club ‘Stuff the Backpack’ campaign sets record
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Brigade Boys & Girls Club distributed new backpacks filled with school supplies to Club members during their annual “Stuff the Backpack” campaign throughout the month of August.
The campaign is supported by donations from companies and individuals within the Wilmington community who sponsored Club kids, enabling them to have a good start to their upcoming school year. This year’s campaign resulted in a record setting distribution of 584 backpacks, surpassing last year’s record of 342.The backpacks were distributed to youth and teens in New Hanover County, Onslow County, and Pender County.
“By providing a new backpack and school supplies we can ensure our Club members have a great start to their school year and are on the path to academic success,” said Angie Hill, Vice President of Operations, Brigade Boys & Girls Club.
“We are honored to have the chance to work with such a caring community,” said Cindy Anzalotti, Director of Development and Marketing, Brigade Boys & Girls Club. “Through their generosity, we were able to provide brand new backpacks and school supplies to over 580 children in need. Watching the excitement of our youth and teens when they receive their bags proves that it makes all the difference.”
The Brigade is now setting their sights on preparing for the 2016 Stocking Drive and bringing the joy of the holiday season to Club members. Please email Mackenzie Hopkins at mhopkins@brigadebgc.org if you would be interested in being a part of this event.
